Hedges are high-density plant structures that can be made up of 1-3 rows of shrubs or small trees, which can be shaped by repeated trimming. The role of hedges can be replacing or duplicating a built architectural element, delimiting a functional area, sheltering some park furniture, masking or visually separating certain unsightly elements, directing and streamlining traffic. Often hedges, by pruning, can constitute special artistic pieces. Depending on the species chosen, they can be divided into three categories: border - up to 0.4 m high, actual hedges - from 0.5 m to 2 m and green walls - higher than 3 m. Among the most often used species are: buxus, berberis, hornbeam, cypress, ilex, English laurel, pine wood, photinia, pyracantha, thuja or yew.
