The pinnate leaves are up to 35 cm long, with oval-lanceolate leaf blades, almost always dark green. They are plants grown especially for the inflorescences in the form of racemes (clusters), spectacular with the appearance of butterflies; the flowers with a special fragrance appear at the end of spring and again in summer when they are less visible due to the fact that they appear among the already developed leaves. The fruits in the form of long pods containing (poisonous) seeds appear after the flowers. It adapts to all types of soil, except for very compacted or stagnant ones. It can also be grown as a tree with a single trunk and a slightly messy, but very spectacular crown.

Wisteria sinensis "Prolific" (Chinese Wisteria Prolific) - abundant flowering, purple clusters. Very fragrant. The 25-35 cm long bunches appear from the second half of April, before the leaves, so very early, preceding almost all other species by a week earlier.
